Vented soffit lets fresh air into the attic, and roof vents let warm, moist air out. When soffit is painted wood, blocked with insulation or solid aluminum, the attic runs hot in summer and wet in winter, which cooks shingles and feeds ice dams.
We replace old wood soffit with vented aluminum, check that the insulation isn’t blocking the airflow, and finish it with matching fascia and eavestrough.

It’s where your attic takes in air. Without it, heat and moisture build up and shorten the life of the shingles.
We usually remove rotten wood first so we’re not trapping moisture behind the new aluminum.
Yes, and it’s usually best to do all three together.
Much less easily than rotten wood. We make sure the panels are fastened properly and gaps are closed.
Aluminum holds up better in Ontario. It doesn’t warp in summer heat or get brittle in the cold, and it resists fading. Vinyl costs a little less upfront. Either way, vented soffit panels are what keep the attic breathing.
